The skeletal stays of a child boy have been discovered hidden in a suitcase within the attic of a home in Stockport.
The unidentified toddler was found in a semi-detached home on Berwick Avenue on 6 March 2022, with police unable to establish the exact time of loss of life.
An investigation, which included DNA evaluation of the stays, recognized the skeleton as a male toddler and revealed his loss of life might have occurred as way back as 1959.
An inquest has now opened into the boy’s loss of life, with senior coroner Alison Mutch revealing that the present inhabitants of the property had been clearing the deal with after they discovered the suitcase containing the stays.
A Home Office pathologist was unable to find out the boy’s reason behind loss of life.
Greater Manchester Police stated: “Shortly after 11.30am on 6 March 2022, we were called to a report of a remains found at an address on Berwick Avenue in Stockport.
“The remains are believed to be historical and there is no evidence to suggest that the find links to any other on-going investigation. Enquiries are on-going.”
After formally opening the inquest, it was adjourned till an extra listening to on September 26.
